Dear Jessica, please help I am so depressed. I went to a dressage schooling show and I got a TEN on my final halt. I was so happy..... then I got home and my friends said it was just because it was a schooling show and nobody should ever get a ten anyway because it means I was perfect and nobody can be perfect. Do you think I could actually have had a perfect halt?
Alicia
Hi Alicia! Yes and no. ;-) You may not have had a perfect halt, and you may have gotten an extra point because judges tend to be a little more generous at schooling shows. On the other hand -- a score of ten does NOT mean "perfect", it means "excellent", and it's a legitimate score for a judge to give if s/he sees an excellent movement.
Pat yourself on the back, but don't stop trying to do even better. And tell your friends to read the rulebook and learn what the scores mean!
