My first fall by Sherri

I'm 42 years old and a novice horseback rider. I have a helmet but I do not wear it consistently. After my fall yesterday, I will NEVER ride without my helmet again. I was trail riding my horse and he slipped in some mud. He lost his footing and I fell off. I was SO VERY FORTUNATE that I was in a grassy area with no trees. The trees were ahead about 200 feet. I landed on my rear-end and shoulder but I realize now how vulnerable my head was. If there had been a rock or tree or if I had landed differently I have a feeling I would not be able to write this story. I am thankful that I was given a "lesson" that hurt little more than my pride and produced sore muscles. Don't take a chance like I did - wear your helmet.
