helmet saved me from serious injury or worse by MaryI was preparing to mount a horse for my weekly lesson, when my boot heel touch a sore spot on his back. Before I was actually seated on him, he took off bucking. I stayed on him the best I could, then everything was upside down. I hit the ground on my left side with a sickening thud. I knew I broke my wrist. My head hit the ground so hard, if I wasn't wearing a helmet I know I would have fractured my skull. My injuries included:of course the broken wrist set with a cast & pins, and a superior pubic ramus fracture of my pelvis. The pelvic fracture was detected by MRI. I cannot drive for 6 weeks, and it will be longer for everything else to heal. Yes, I intend to ride again. The first thing I'm going to do is buy a new helmet. As far as I'm concerned, it saved my life. It is the best investment I've ever made.
